The War on Wisdom Sample
In Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”, one of the characters delivers a speech in which he says, “To thine own self be true…”. While it makes for a great quote and has been used in many speeches and theatres ever since, it may not be the wisest advice. In fact, it actually can lead us into danger.
Think about it for a minute. What if the nature of our “true self” is shallow, selfish, or arrogant? What if “true self” is an addict, a liar, or is simply just mean? Is that a nature we would want to exemplify? What if we are walking in a way that seems true to us, but in fact is leading us straight over the proverbial cliff?
We are image-bearers of the one true holy God. And while the Lord has given us the ability to think and reason for ourselves, it is with the intent that we lean into Him, seeking His wisdom and guidance, for His good purposes. It is not for us to run head-strong in our own direction. We may do well enough for a while following our own true self, but ultimately, we will find ourselves lost and separated from our Savior.
Jeremiah 17:5 provides a stern reminder “Thus says the Lord: ‘Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD.”
We need to align our inner selves daily with the heart of the Father, letting His ways become our ways and His truth become our truth.

About this Plan
We are at War, a war raging since the day that man decided to choose a way other than following the Counsel of God. But God in His grace gave us the strategy we need to be victorious - His Wisdom. The 'War on Wisdom' is a 5-week reading plan through parts of the book of Proverbs. Our purpose is to help the believer reclaim the Wisdom of God.
