Encouragement: The Fuel of HopeSample

Encouragement: The Fuel of Hope

DAY 4 OF 7

The times when you need to encourage or be encouraged.

There are times when we need to be encouraged. There are times also when we need to be the one who encourages others.

We are all different and we are all at different places in our walk with Christ. The ways of the world would overwhelm us if we let them, because life in the world today is tough.

Consider the words of Henry Ford:

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the aeroplane takes off against the wind, not with it” ~Henry Ford

You need encouragement when you are standing against the odds. You need encouragement when everything seems to be falling apart. You need encouragement when the world is beating you down and you feel you can’t go on.

And we all go through those times as we walk with Christ.

It is impossible to be a Christian and not go through hard times. You are standing against the evil spiritual rulers of this world…and they don’t like it! The sole work of the devil is to smash the people of God.

But in Christ we have the encouragement of the one who has already overcome the world. He has already won the victory, and in Him we have salvation, freedom, and life. He has established the church for our strengthening and encouragement and He instructs us not to neglect to meet together.

I know from personal experience, there are days I would rather not attend church. I’d prefer to sit at home and mope in a “pity party.” But when I come to my senses and go to church, I am always lifted up with joy as I come into the presence of the Lord.

This is why He said not to neglect to meet together as is the habit of some. He meant for the church to meet together for the very purpose of encouraging one another. He meant for us to come and share our joys and sorrows, highs and lows with each other so we could lift one another up, or be lifted up ourselves.

It is in the hard times when we are “flying into the wind” that we need lifting. God has promised that the hard times will not last, but that in due course He will restore, strengthen, and establish us. So be encouraged and be confident in the promises of God.

Call to action:

Find a reason to meet together with your brethren in Christ and speak about Him, His promises, and His word. Do not fail to go to church, as it is there that you will find His blessings and encouragement.

About this Plan

Encouragement: The Fuel of Hope

We all need encouragement just to stand in troubled times. Understanding the need to encourage, and be encouraged will strengthen you as well as the body of Christ. The paths and processes of encouragement were established by Christ in scripture. This plan examines many of the aspects of encouragement in the hope that you will be uplifted, and be able to uplift others.
