I Can Trust God

DAY 2 OF 3

Read Together

Some days feel like a terrible storm. It rains, so you don’t get to go to the park. You get in a fight with your best friend. You find out your pet is sick.

Days like that are hard. Days like that give you a chance to trust God. Talk with Him about it. You can be honest about how you feel with God—and with a grown-up you trust. Breathe deep and remember that God is still good, even if your day doesn’t seem to be.

When you choose to follow Jesus and put your trust in God, it’s like building your life on a solid rock. When the worst days come, you can find strength in Him.

Talk Together

  • What do you think it means to build your life on Jesus, the solid Rock?
  • What thoughts or feelings do you think people have on hard days?
  • If a friend said they needed help trusting God on a terrible day, what would you do to help them?

Focus Together

Do this focus activity as a family so your child can repeat it on their own when they face difficult situations.

  • Think of something that makes you feel worried or afraid.
  • Hold your hands out in front of you, palms up, and imagine you are holding the thing you thought of.
  • Calmly say, "I can trust God," and pretend to toss the thing away from yourself and up to God.
  • Repeat as often as you like. You can give the same thing to God again or give Him something different.

Study Together

Read today's Bible story as a family. Talk about how it can help you remember this truth: I can trust God.
