Kingdom: A 7-Day Devotional With Maverick City X Kirk FranklinSample
“Fear is not my Future,
You are, You are
Sickness’ not my Story,
You are, You are
Heartbreak’s not my Home,
You are, You are
Death is not the End,
You are, You are”
- Fear is not my Future, Brandon Lake, Maverick City Music
In an age riddled with fear, we quickly forget the future God has planned for those who know Him. We are bound for eternity. No amount of anxiety we carry on earth will outweigh the glory that is to be revealed to us. Not only are we promised an eternity of unending joy, but we’re also promised a “future and a hope” right here and now. When God created you, He did so with intention and purpose.
When we speak about what’s going on in our lives, it is tempting to give the most attention to what’s going wrong. Perhaps we’re battling anxiety, sickness, or grief. It begins to feel like these things define us and our stories, but the truth is that they are only a chapter. They are chapters that carry great pain, but the hand of God can be found even in those places. No matter the season, we can be reminded that He is our future. He’s the beginning and the end. He’s marked your history with faithfulness, walks with you now and will be cheering you on as you cross the finish line. There is no part of your story He’s not been intentionally involved in.
Remember who goes before you. Remember that He is already there and has overcome everything you face today. Remember that there is pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning. Every season has its end, but King Jesus, the one who carries you through it, remains forever. He will never leave you or forsake you.
SCRIPTURES:
- “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning” Psalm 30:5
- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
QUESTIONS:
- What part of your story has fear been writing?
- How can you turn that fear into confidence by remembering God is already on the other side of your situation?
