The Foundations of the GospelSample
Life’s Greatest Gift: Jesus
Jesus was born of a virgin named Mary who was impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the redeemer of mankind and God in the flesh. He was a friend of sinners that did not come to condemn or judge the world, but He came so that the world would be saved through Him.
When Adam and Eve sinned against God, there was a price that had to be paid for the sin that brought the penalty of death and eternal separation from God. Sin’s payment required a perfect sacrifice, something that had to pay for the sin. Throughout the entirety of the Bible, from Genesis 3 to God sending Jesus to the earth, it points to a coming Messiah who would sacrifice His life to make atonement for sin.
Jesus became our ultimate sacrifice. He went to the cross and died a sinner’s death in our place. Three days later, He rose again from the dead, and from that moment on, death has no more power over our lives.
Jesus came to restore our relationship to the Father. The Bible says that because of Jesus, we are now new creations and citizens of Heaven.
Questions:
- Do you still feel influenced by your sinful nature even though Jesus has set you free from sin?
- How do you view your relationship with Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross? What does it mean to you?
