Pearls of Grace: 12 Pearls + 12 PrayersSample
Provision: By God’s grace, we have no need to fear when something "bad" seems to be happening or even when something “bad” is happening. God will provide. His eye is upon us. He is the great and gentle Shepherd who tends His sheep and His lambs. We can be filled with hope knowing that God will provide for our every need, not based upon our merit, but upon His love, mercy, and grace. He is faithful, even when we are unfaithful. God is our all-sufficient Creator and Provider.
We find true rest when we trust in God as our perfect Provider. We find true security when we believe that God loves us and that He has and will care for us perfectly as our loving Shepherd. Jerry Bridges writes, "The contented person experiences the sufficiency of God’s provision for his needs and the sufficiency of God’s grace for his circumstances. He believes God will indeed meet all his material needs and work in all his circumstances for his good. That is why Paul could say, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” The godly person has found what the greedy, envious, or discontented person always searches for but never finds. He has found satisfaction and rest in his soul."
O LORD God, heavenly Father, you are my Shepherd; I shall not want. You are the only one who can make me lie down in green pastures. You are the only One who can lead me beside quiet waters. Help me believe you will always provide for me as a loving father who cares for his beloved child. I am your beloved and you are my Beloved. I know you love me. Help me believe that you love me. Grant me grace to rest in your perfect and loving provision. In Jesus' name. Amen.
