Seeing Beyond Your AnxietySample

The Holy Spirit
In today’s guiding verses, the prophet Joel describes a future when all people—”all flesh”—can receive the Holy Spirit. We see in the Old Testament the Holy Spirit only dwelling with prophets, priests, and kings. Yet, all that has changed.
Jesus, immediately prior to His ascension, speaks to the fulfillment of Joel's words in Acts 1. In verses 4 and 5 He commands the disciples not to depart from Jerusalem… but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” In Acts 2 that very thing happened. The Holy Spirit came to dwell within and upon all of those of us who ask.
One of the greatest benefits of the Spirit of God living within us is vision. This vision often comes to us as the Holy Spirit shares pictures of a preferable future. These pictures inspire us, encourage us, and strengthen us to not only persevere but overcome in life. How do you feel the Holy Spirit has spoken vision into your life?
As you engage with God’s Word:
● What is God saying to me?
● What does it mean to me?
● How can I apply what God is teaching me?
● How can I be specific in prayer today?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
