Elevate: A Conversation on Bullying

DAY 2 OF 7

There are two main characters in most action movies: a hero and a villain. The heroes are always good, while the villains are always bad. Whether we realize it or not, we tend to think of people in the real world as good or evil, too. The truth is, there is always more to the story. The people who have hurt you have usually been hurt by others. They’re not bad; they’re just broken. We all have a story that has influenced how we interact with others—for better and for worse. The good news is that the story isn’t over. Jesus encourages us to be a part of a greater story for those who have experienced the type of brokenness that causes them to behave badly. Today, when you may be tempted to dismiss someone, remind yourself there is more to their story than you may know.

About this Plan

Elevate: A Conversation on Bullying

Research shows that 1 in 5 students ages 12 to 18 experience bullying. This means bullying is a big problem. Jesus elevated the value of every human in the way He lived, so we need to elevate the way we think and talk about bullying. In this devotional, we’ll focus on the thing that can change our behavior and begin to solve the bullying problem: seeing the value in others.
