DAY 14 OF 28

Transform Your Heart

This week we’ve looked at what Scripture says about finances and how we should approach them. We’ve seen some practical advice and some teachings that made us think deeply about our lives. What is most important, though, is not that we change our behavior, but that our heart is transformed.

We’ve all encountered people who act one way around us and then a different way around others. We might even know people who say one thing and then do something completely different. If we are honest, each of us can be hypocritical from time to time. But Jesus calls us to something so much more: to be authentic people who live consistently with what we believe.

The first step toward becoming that kind of person is surrendering our hearts completely to God. A lot of times we say that we have given our lives to Him, but we hang onto a certain area of our lives. If we are going to be transformed, we have to give God control over our finances. It is a major shift in attitude, one that requires us to be intentional each and every day.

As we live in this process of giving over our money to God, we start to listen to Him when He says to stay out of debt (Proverbs 22:7). We seek contentment instead of more possessions (1 Timothy 6:6-11). And it means that we see our money as a way to be a light in the world (Matthew 5:13-16).

It all starts with your heart. Do you need to give God control over your money? If so, spend a moment in prayer asking Him to transform your heart.

About this Plan

Really?!?

If we’re honest, some things we read in the Bible leave us shaking our heads. Is it really even possible to sincerely love people who are different from us? Can we really be content with what we have? How about prayer? Does God really hear us? During this study, we’re going to talk about how things that can seem so impossible to us are completely possible with God. Really!
