Today Is Going to Be Another Good DaySample
Today is going to be a good day because Jesus is tireless; He never grows weary of us or our needs.
Even on stressful days with overwhelming to-do lists, when we grow weary of the chaos we call life, God never grows tired or weary of us. God is everlasting, and His love, affection, and patience toward us will never end.
Even during the difficult days when there are more to-do’s than hours in which to do, when the bank account becomes shorter than the month, and when others’ expectations of us exceed our bandwidth, we can choose to make Jesus’s presence the center of our attention.
When cancer hit my body, and health demands required a shift in priorities from the deadlines, commitments, and daily mundane tasks that kept the household in working order to doctors’ appointments, tests, and surgery, my “want to” was greater than my “can do.” Our needs seemed to stack up faster than I could write them down.
I bemoaned to the Lord that I could be so much more effective if either the diagnosis was canceled by his mighty hand, or he supernaturally gave me more hours in the day. In that moment, I sensed him whisper to my spirit that he wasn’t interested in what I could do for him, but what he really wanted was time with me.
Jesus doesn’t love us for what we can do for him, but because we are his!
My needs were great, and he offered me a safe place to share them with him on my knees in prayer. Tomorrow was not mine to worry over, but to trust him through. There is nothing that delights God more than time spent doing life with His children. When He is our focus, it will be a good day….perhaps even a more peace-filled day.
What is threatening your peace today? Will you turn it over to Him?
Father, thank you that you understand us so well because you created us and knit us together in our mother’s womb. You fashioned and formed us according to your image. Thank you that you never grow tired or weary, even when we do. Help us to give you the burdens of this life that are too heavy for us to carry, but that you so willingly shoulder for us when we will turn our cares over to you. Help us to give you those cares quickly and not pick them back up again, for they are safer in your everlasting arms. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
