Esther, Born for Such a Time as ThisSample
As I read these verses, this proverb comes to mind: "Pride goes before a fall." This proverb gets to the very heart of what this chapter is about.
Oh, that Haman! He hoped to get rid of Mordecai quickly, but by elevating himself he was humiliated in the face of his worst enemy. Mordecai was honored and given the royal robes. There is a nice lesson in this. We must learn not to do things for our own glory but to stay humble in everything.
What motive do we have in helping others? Do we act from our heart or is it for our own honor? Let's be more like Jesus; He is full of love and compassion. He is humble; I know I can't do that on my own. We can ask God every day to help and guide us through His Holy Spirit. As a result, we will become more and more like Him. This reminds me of the words the Lord Jesus said: "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted." Luke 18:14 (AMP)
Prayer: Help me to be like You, Lord Jesus—compassionate, meek, and humble of heart.

About this Plan
In this plan, we will take you through the book of Esther. We can admire Esther's courage, but we should see the whole picture: Esther, too, needed to be reminded of Who rules and that her life is in His hand. We pray that Esther's story inspires you to see God's hand in your life. God has intentionally placed you where you are for such a time as this.
