Enforcing You: Standing on the Promises of GodSample

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Rom. 8:28 NKJV

As I was making brownies the other day, it occurred to me how the recipe calls for ingredients that do not taste good when eaten alone. I don’t know about you, but I am not interested in eating a raw egg, or salt, or biting into a stick of butter. Nothing is tantalizing about drinking vanilla extract or a cup of oil. Yet, every ingredient was something that you would NOT enjoy on its own. However, each one is necessary to make brownies. In other words, they work together to produce a delicious outcome. If one ingredient were left out, it would mess up the whole batch.

Isn’t it true that life also has moments that are a bit like trying to swallow raw eggs or drink a cup of oil? Not everything we go through is “tasty” or appealing. But is it possible that these moments are key ingredients to what God is “cooking” in your life? Is it possible that they are each working together to produce a delicious outcome?

The Truth is that every moment, every hurt, every failure, every “thing” is a crucial ingredient to what God is working in your life and who He is molding you to be.

“Are you confident in this Truth?” We often leave the first part of this verse out, saying, “And we know that…” When I am amid eating raw eggs, I am not so confident that it will end up smelling like brownies. I often doubt that anything good can come out of the yucky ingredients mixed into my “bowl of life.” But the reality is that some of my worst seasons have produced some of the best outcomes. The raw eggs were necessary for producing what God has done in me and through me.

What is it that you are having a hard time swallowing right now? What ingredient is being added to your life that you are convinced cannot produce anything good? Take a moment and choose to be confident that God is working all the ingredients together and that in the end, you WILL have brownies!

Let’s declare this together. “God, I declare that no matter the yucky parts of my life, You are working something good FOR my good. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
