Just Give Me A Sign
Have you ever noticed that miracles, signs, and wonders are effective at solving problems, but not very effective in building faith? Why is that? In this particular passage, Jesus even replies, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign!" Two reasons come to mind. First, evidence doesn’t require faith. They’re polar opposites. Second, signs focus on the event rather than the Person behind the event. So what are you looking for - more faith or more signs?
Prayer: Father God, I admit I’m sometimes like the Pharisees - caught up with the ‘flash-bang’ of dramatic signs rather than exercising the faith I have on the evidence you’ve already given me. I want to see more of you, Lord, not just signs and miracles. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
