Because Jesus Changes Everything - Everywhere we pray to Jesus.

In today's reading we are going to see what can happen when we pray.

Peter is in trouble. He's locked up tighter than a drum-- four squads of soldiers assigned to watch his every move. James--his fellow brother in the Kingdom work has just been executed by Herod. It appears Peter is next.

Peter is in trouble. Chained to two soldiers,--his options are zero. It's dark in that prison,--it's cold and bleak. He's isolated from his friends and family. Now,-it's just a matter of time. Or so it seems!

Then the church begins to pray. A congregational prayer---just like we do each Sunday morning. Scripture tells us they prayed "earnestly." They prayed "constantly." The church prayed hard! And God moved-- sent one of His angels to spring Peter from jail. A miracle. Peter was able to join his friends and they got him out of town so he could preach the Good News another day!!

There's quite a message in this story. God works when the church prays. It's always been that way. God works when we think all is lost--no hope?--that's when God moves. Each week--we join together for our Congregational prayer--are we "earnest" in that prayer? Are our prayers "constant" or sporadic and lifeless? If Peter were to join us this Sunday at Church--He'd tell each of us what the power of a praying church can do!! It can release hopeless souls from dark, bleak, cold prisons!!! - Mike De Jager
