Because Jesus Changes Everything - everyone is growing in Jesus!

The passage we will be looking at today speaks directly to how we are to "grow". In this passage, Paul exhorts the Church (us) to be "building up the body of Christ." Paul explicitly warns us to "no longer be children tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine..." It seems to me, in this process of growing in Christ we have work to do. Some of this work is in rejecting the lies and schemes around us.

How do we do this? Speak the truth in love! These words challenge me. I struggle with balancing truth and love. Yet, I love that Paul doesn't end his sentence this way, he continues with some instruction:
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

As we think about how we are growing together in Christ, let's not forget that our growing must be IN Him. In every way! He is the head. He is the source. He holds it all together.
