How the Work of Christ Sustains the Work of MotherhoodSample
Have you ever wondered what Jesus is doing right now?
The risen Lord Jesus is serving us right this very moment in heaven. Even though he has sat down at the Father’s right hand in glory—He continues giving himself to us because his heart is that humble.
We may wonder why he is doing this. After all, isn’t his work “finished”? In Christ, we are forgiven, accepted, and adopted as daughters. Yet, Jesus continues to intervene on our behalf.
Why?
Because he is committed to seeing us all the way home.
It is his delight to intercede, and he refuses to leave us to our own strength and devices. If he did, we wouldn’t make it.
No, Jesus must have every single one of his people with him in heaven. Not one of his sheep will be lost (John 10:28–30). That’s a promise, and that is his aim.
You may have many good goals, Mom: weaning your baby, helping your toddler walk or talk, potty training, prepping for preschool, sleeping through the night.
But what is Jesus’s goal for you? That you will be with him and see his glory.
He is committed to accomplishing this goal, as committed as he was when he took your place on the cross. And the way he accomplishes it? He never ceases to pray for you.
Take this in, Mom: Jesus is praying for you right now.
It always encourages me to know a friend is praying for me; how much more the Son of God? This reality brings strength. Strength to take the next step and do the next thing for your kids or your marriage or your church or yourself; strength to change one more diaper or give one more feeding or forgive one more offense; strength to humbly serve your kids another moment and another day, even when it’s hard.
Doesn’t Jesus’s unwavering commitment to you right now make you want to press on?
By his intercession, you will. He will carry you. And not just sometimes, not just part of the way, but always and all the way home. We adapted this plan from another resource. Learn more at humblemomsbook.com
