Not Ok Emotionally?Sample
What Am I Doing?!
It can be easy to compare ourselves against everyone else's new homes, flashy cars, and smiling families, but did you know that behind the social media version of someone's life, they're facing many of the same things you face?
Even the great apostles of Scripture struggled with certain life areas. Time and again, I've been comforted by the words of the Apostle Paul in today's guiding verse.
In Romans 7:15, Paul tells us, “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.”
Paul knew the right things to do, yet he didn't always do them! In fact, he was baffled by his own behavior. We all feel like this at times.
We know the right action to take, but we still choose the wrong thing at times.
Imagine leaving an amazing time of worship and prayer, inspired that you'll find freedom from anger issues. You're in a state of peace. Then, bam — a car cuts you off leaving the parking lot, and you're yelling and shaking your fist. You can't even make it out of the parking lot before the devil is back in the passenger seat. Sound familiar?
In an instant, like Paul, we do what we hate. There are areas where we desperately want to change, but we feel stuck on repeat. So how do we do it?
Here's the secret: half the battle is admitting you need to change. God can't fix what you won't admit.
We're all human. Everyone struggles in certain areas — and that's okay. However, if we want real, lasting change, it all starts by being honest with God and ourselves.
Where do you need to change?
Are you ready to let God in?
As you engage with God’s word:
● Where do I need to change?
● What is God saying to me?
● What do I need to do about it?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
