Preparing for Easter: 5 Ways Church Leaders Can Rest and RefocusSample
Prepare to Lead
Do you ever wish you were a part of something big? We all want our lives to be meaningful, but despite our best efforts, it’s easy to sometimes feel unfulfilled and unable to make an impact.
And yet, every time you prepare for a church service, or counsel someone online or in person, you are actively influencing the world by impacting the trajectory of someone’s life.
So if you’re feeling tempted to quit, or unable to lead, here are two things to remember:
1. It’s not about you.
God showed us what greatness looked like by sending His Son to save us. By taking on the form of a servant, Jesus placed our needs above His own desires. He showed us how to live by dying for us out of love. And it’s His resurrection that allows us to humbly lead others with boldness and confidence.
Every opportunity you have to lead others is actually an opportunity to show them the servant-hearted love of Jesus.
So as you prepare to lead your church, ask God to reveal practical ways you can serve your community this week. Connect with the needs of the people around you so that you can understand how best to love and lead them.
2. You’re not doing this alone.
Whatever Easter challenges you might be facing or preparing for, know that God has specifically called you to lead in the area you’re in. God loves to use “foolish” methods and weak people to showcase His glory. So no matter how unqualified you might feel at times, if God has called you, He will equip you. Nothing is impossible for God.
With that being said, it is your responsibility to steward God’s provision wisely. And oftentimes, wise stewardship starts with recognizing the influence you’ve been given, and then choosing to walk in a manner that’s worthy of your calling.
So as Easter approaches, step into the authority God has given you. Evaluate the provision you’ve already received, and choose to view potential problems as solvable growth opportunities. Take some time today to examine your motives and actions, and confess to God any ways you might be making Easter about you.
Then, look for practical ways to love the people you get to lead, and remember that as you draw near to God, He will give you all you need to make an eternal difference.
