Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the Psalms

DAY 4 OF 161

Set Apart

False gods and delusions: not much has changed since this Psalm was written about three thousand years ago! There are many false gods, people and things we put our hope and trust in which later disappoint, including money, fame, power, and success. None of these things can provide true stability, peace, or safety. Today, know that God has set you apart for Himself.

To be set apart means to be chosen for a purpose. It means not following the way of the world or trusting in false gods or idols, but being fully devoted to the Lord. As verse 4 says, search your heart and be silent before Him today. Ask Him what it means to be set apart. This Psalm is full of wonderful promises: great joy, peace, and safety. Choose to trust wholeheartedly in the one true God and enjoy all of these things today.

GO DEEP: What does it mean to be set apart for God? Take some time today to be silent, search your heart, and make a list of the things that the Lord reveals to you.

BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
