5 Powerful Prayers to Strengthen the Hearts of Our StudentsSample
Love
Nothing melts my heart like hearing affectionate words from our grandchildren as they tell me they love me. Viewed through the lens of Gary Chapman’s Five Love Languages, these sweet phrases would be considered Words of Affirmation.
Acts of Service, Gifts, Physical Touch, and Quality Time round out Dr. Chapman’s list. His premise is that each person experiences love deeply in one of the five languages and that people who do not feel loved react in negative ways. Consider the typical classroom. Some children experience love best through a kind word (words of affirmation) and others from a hand on the shoulder (touch). Help with a task is extremely meaningful to some (acts of service) while a small token like a sticker (gifts) or a listening ear (quality time) fills the hearts of others. Each child is uniquely created to flourish when their love tank is full. May each teacher experience the extravagant love of Jesus, which would overflow in practical expressions of love into the hearts of their students.
As we continue to pray powerful prayers to strengthen the hearts of our students, we believe that when they experience God’s extravagant love, they will become conduits for His love to reach others.
Praise God for His Love
“For God so loved the world He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”John 3:16
God, we give You thanks for your generous, steadfast, sacrificial love. Your love resulted in the gift of Your Son as the substitutionary payment for our sin.
We Pray for Hearts that Love God
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” Deuteronomy 6:5
Lord, would you reveal the things that the students in our school community love. We pray that You would direct hearts in our district to love You instead of loving harmful things which cause darkness and confusion. Loving You is a foundation that cannot be shaken.
Pray for Hearts that Love Others
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love.”Romans 12:9,10
During this week may everyone in our school community experience Your love. May those who know You extend sincere love to those who don’t. We pray that You would strengthen friendships that focus on what is good, especially as so many students are feeling lonely and anxious during this challenging time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
About this Plan
In this devotional, you will connect with God through faith-filled, scripture-based prayers which will strengthen students. In a culture where screens are replacing human interaction and truth is relative, we need to take our rightful place in the spiritual battle to see kids rescued and set free. Let’s be strategic and focused on behalf of our school communities as we “devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2)
