Through the Bible: Malachi

DAY 2 OF 3

Love Your Marriage Partner

Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves[d] in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.
Malachi 2:15 (ESV)

In Malachi 2 God warns his people, through Malachi’s message, that they must honour the covenant of marriage and protect the trust they share. The marriage covenant is a picture of the covenant relationship between God and His people – a sin against a wife, a daughter of Israel, is a sin against God. One objective of the marriage relation is to raise a seed for God and for eternity.

Prayer

God, we thank You for the third person in our marriage covenant – Jesus. He has the power we need to walk in life and peace with our marriage partner. Thank You for Your love for the marriage partnership and Your wisdom we want to walk with, every day. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
