Lead And FollowSample
I will think before I follow.
People set examples with the words they speak and the things they do. You have a choice to make: which examples will you follow?
King Rehoboam had to make that choice. The older, wiser leaders set a good example for King Rehoboam by giving him good advice. The younger leaders set a bad example for King Rehoboam by giving him bad advice.
King Rehoboam chose to follow the bad advice, so he lost most of his kingdom.
You don’t have to wind up like King Rehoboam. Before you choose to follow someone’s example, stop. Think about the example they’re setting. Does it please God? If you’re not sure, pray and ask for God’s help. God will help you know which examples to follow, and which ones to ignore.
Talk It Over: Have you copied what your friends said or did when it was wrong? Talk about what happened. What might help you make a better choice next time?
