Lion DevotionalSample
Hey!
Chris from Elevation Worship here.
We’re so excited that you’ve made the decision to walk through the next 14 days with us as we explore the biblical truths behind the songs off our new album, LION. This album takes you on a journey and it’s not exactly singular in its sound. But I love that it has a few surprises and paints with some colors we haven’t tried before.
As the project was taking shape, we looked to our song “LION” as a title track, and decided that revealing a meek, spotless lamb in contrast to a song that’s fierce and aggressive was a powerful glimpse into the duality of Christ. So much of God’s kingdom embodies paradox. Jesus Himself was servant AND master. He was sovereign AND He submitted to authority. He’s the beginning AND the end.
In Revelation 5, we see Jesus as the “Lion of the tribe of Judah” and the “Lamb who was slain.” He isn’t relegated to one or the other. He’s powerful and He’s gentle. He’s terrifying and He’s meek. He conquered death and hell, but He did so by surrendering and suffering on a cross.
I pray that you would open your heart to experience Jesus in a new way over the next two weeks — that you would become more aware of who He is to you. And that you would be encouraged and challenged in your own faith journey through these devotionals.
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
Revelation 5:12

About this Plan
In Revelation, we see Jesus as the “Lion of the tribe of Judah” and the “Lamb who was slain.” So much of God’s kingdom embodies paradox; even Jesus Himself was sovereign AND He submitted to authority. He’s the beginning AND the end. He isn’t relegated to one or the other. Join us for this 14-day study as we learn about how God’s kingdom and character may surprise us.
