Things That Go Together
James 2:26
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Things that are made to go together will work well together and cannot be separated. When they are separated, neither of them can function correctly. They rely on one another to get a great result, for example, a keyhole and a key. A keyhole needs the right fitting key for us to unlock something. On the other hand, the key becomes useless unless inserted into the keyhole.
Faith and deeds are things that go together. Salvation is a gift that God has given freely, and it isn’t dependent on our good deeds. But God saves us from sin so that we can do good deeds. By faith, we follow Jesus and do good deeds as long as we live on earth.
It is called faith without deeds if we claim to believe in Jesus but lie to our parents and teachers. The Bible says faith without deeds is dead. By doing God’s will, we are strengthening our faith. But if we continue to make excuses for not obeying God’s word, our faith will fade away.
God’s light will shine through our lives, and God’s name will be praised through both our faith and our deeds.
Prayer
Dear God, help me show my love for You by doing what You have taught me to do through Your word. Amen.
