Becoming Like Jesus: Silence and SolitudeSample
The Spirit of Truth
Pray…
Father God, thank you for sending your Spirit to be with me and live inside me. Help me slow down enough to walk in step with your Spirit and be transformed in the process. In Jesus name, amen.

'And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. - John 14:16-17 NIV
Consider…
Shortly before going to the cross, Jesus told His disciples that He would leave, but in His place God would send the Holy Spirit to be with them. The Spirit of Truth. The Holy Spirit is not just an abstract expression of God’s power, the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. And He is living inside of you.
When you think about your relationship to the Holy Spirit, how would you describe it? Is He an intimate friend or a familiar stranger? What might it look like to grow in intimacy with the Holy Spirit?
Listen…
Find a comfortable place where you won’t be distracted. Maybe a cozy chair, a closet, or even sitting outside on a porch.
Set a timer for 5-10 minutes.
Settle into God’s presence by taking a few deep breaths and praying this prayer.
As you breathe in, “Lord Jesus…” When you breathe out, “Have mercy on me.”
Breathe in, “Heavenly Father…” Breathe out, “You’re all that I need.”
In, “Holy Spirit…” and out, “Breathe on me.”
Repeat this prayer until your mind is clear and your body is still. When you’re ready, ask God to speak to you.
When you get distracted, repeat the prayer above to help you bring your attention back to God.
When the timer ends, thank God for the time you spent together and head into the rest of your day with a clearer sense of His presence.
