Are You Afraid to Die?

DAY 2 OF 4

Better Than You Can Imagine

In heaven, there’s no curse – no fear or sickness or death or sadness. There’s only light and life and love! When you get there, you’ll probably walk around for a millennium or so with your mouth hanging open because it’s so wonderful.

No matter how good you think heaven is, it’s better. And you are a citizen there. When you get there you’ll have a glorified body! Philippians 3:20-21 says, Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

If you’ve had a loved one die, you don’t have to worry that you’ll never see them again. If they received Jesus, you’ll spend eternity together! Right now they are safely tucked away in heaven, seeing Jesus face to face and walking on streets of gold. They’re having a great time, and they’ll be there when you arrive later.

On a side note, if you’ve had a loved one die and you aren’t sure they were saved, let me just say this: God is so good, and He loves people so much, I believe He gives them many chances to receive Him, right up to the very end. We don’t know what they might have heard in their lifetime, what decisions they may have made, or what happened to them right before they left this earth. My spiritual father used to say, “We’re going to be surprised by who we find in heaven.” I believe that.

Let’s face it – we’re all going to die. There’s nobody around today who lived in the 1600s. Death is totally inevitable, but it’s NOT the end. I like the way the great evangelist Billy Graham said it:

“We worship a risen, living Savior, who has promised to give immortality to all who believe on His name. No longer do men and women need to stumble in the fog and the darkness of hopelessness. A Light shines brighter than the noonday sun, offering hope to everyone who has been born again. Jesus promised in John 11:25-26, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” That is good news!
