Working Smart, Living FaithfullySample
Day 5: Work and Faith
Focus, decide, checklist, and priority. These are four keywords I hope you remember after reading this plan.
- Focus—not only on work but also on your Lord.
- Decide—not only to make time for work but also to listen to God and follow Him.
- Checklist—of only one item: following the only worthy Leader.
- Priority—not only in earth-tasks but also in ones with eternal implications.
Each of these ideas has applications in the workplace and doing all the tasks life gives us, but they should also encourage healthy faith. Faith is the most important thing we have to hold on to. It’s what gives us hope and purpose. Everything we do should be founded on it. All the work we do to live, to take care of others, and to enjoy ourselves should bring glory to God because we do it in His name.
Since it matters to God, we should do everything we can to do our work well. Sometimes that means working harder, but I think it’s usually about working smarter. Routines and habits are helpful tools for efficient and high-quality work.
John Brandon seems to have mastered harnessing these tools in his own life and while he mentors others. In his bookThe 7-Minute Solution, he discusses not only the importance of routines and habits but also how they should look and how to establish them. If you find yourself struggling with productivity in work or consistency and focus in your faith, give his book a try or find more information on his website sevenminutesolution.com.
About this Plan
