Married Couples: 16-Day Prayer ChallengeSample
"Love Does Not Boast"
By Josh Edelstein
This is what the Lord says: ‘Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord.”—Jeremiah 9:23–24 (NIV)
Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.”—Proverbs 27:2 (NIV)
Father God, the cry of our hearts is to understand and know You truly. We want to grow closer to You as we grow closer to each other. Please fill us both with Your spirit of love, kindness, and humility. Help us not to have a mindset of trying to be better than anyone else but desiring to be what You call us to be and to love one another as You love us. We know the love and sacrifice You made for us by giving us Your one and only son is not something for which we could ever repay You. Instead, Lord, we pray that You help us be more like You and that Your grace and mercy are something that we show each other through our actions towards one another. In this, we believe we would make You proud of us and that You would delight in us as Your children. We humbly pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
