7 Truths of Marriage: Bringing Sexy Back

DAY 5 OF 7

Sexy and Naked

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Genesis 2:25

Let’s calm some panic. We’re talking about naked as in Adam and Eve naked. Sure, it’s great to get naked and be naked of clothes, but this is naked in the sense of completely vulnerable, exposed, and accountable. Not sounding as fun anymore? Well, hang in there as it gets better.

True intimacy in marriage only comes when both of you understand the nature of being naked before God and each other. Marriage by His design was meant to be a sexy, safe place to bare it all before each other. Nothing you face, physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually should bring shame in your marriage as long as your marriage is pure.

Sin created shame in the Garden of Eden. Although that ended their age of innocence, God has provided you with the path back to reconciliation and restoration in the event the nakedness turns into hiding in fig leaves. Jesus Christ remains the way, the truth, and the life. Part of being naked is taking responsibility for your actions and apologizing with a repentant heart. Adam and Eve were not allowed back in the Garden, but it doesn’t mean you can’t return to your paradise when you remain open and transparent with each other.

TRUE TALK:

Honesty is sexy. Allowing your spouse to see you, all of you, creates trust. We might feel better throwing a blanket over the truths in our lives and turning away, but fully giving of ourselves to our spouse will allow you both to be naked and sexy. What fig leaves do you need to discuss?
