Through the Bible: JoelSample
Take Refuge in Him
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.
Joel 2:28 (ESV)
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The Lord is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
Psalm 118: 6-8 (ESV)
When the prophet Joel gave this prophecy, he encouraged the nations of Israel and Judah to return to God after a plague of locusts in the region. The plague did turn the hearts of the Israelites back to the Lord. The Lord soon restored what they had lost and blessed the nations.
Have you ever been through difficult times? Do you rely on human power to fix the issue or pray for God’s discernment on how to handle the problems?
Remember, our Lord promised to pour out His Spirit abundantly into the hearts of those who seek Him. That is the greatest blessing for all Christians. If you have received Christ, then you have received this blessing as the Spirit of God dwells in us. Let us not take it for granted. We must continue to nurture our relationship with Him in order to get the fullness of it.
As it is written in Psalm 118:8, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, may You always remind us to take refuge in You. You are a Shelter and Rock to us. Let us continue to press on to know You and Your will for us. Let us be sure that what we are hearing is in line with Your Word and Your nature. Let us act in faith. We pray all these in Your mighty name, Amen!

About this Plan
Joel’s prophecy, “The day of the Lord,” is like a double-edged sword; it’s about God’s wrath to the disobedient and God’s salvation to the obedient. It speaks of an imminent judgment of Judah and an eschatological consummation of God’s Kingdom in Jesus’ second coming. Amidst his horrific warnings, Joel comforts God’s people with this promise, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
