Through the Bible: DanielSample
Withstanding Trials like Daniel
Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Daniel 6:10 (NIV)
So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!
Daniel 6:16 (NIV)
My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.
Daniel 6:22 (NIV)
While Daniel 6 is one of the most famous stories in the Bible, the visions that Daniel had in Chapters 7 and 8 are also powerful prophecies that God sent that were beyond human understanding. Because of Daniel’s steadfast faith, God saved Daniel from one ruler to another and even showed him God’s own sovereign plan through imagery, all because Daniel was faithful, no matter the circumstances, and always humbled himself before God. God wants us to put down our pride and selfish desires, and solely rely on Him through prayers and petitions. Can we go on when real challenges hit? If Daniel can stay calm in front of hungry lions in the den, what then shall we be afraid of in following Him?
Prayer
Let us keep an unwavering faith and love for God like Daniel, even when facing enemies who persecute us and people we might have offended. Father God, convict us with Your will. May Your Holy Spirit fill our hearts and guide us to respond in the face of troubles, as a child of God. Point us to the right path as we seek You, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
About this Plan
Daniel was chosen and taken captive to serve the king of Babylon. Amidst all the challenges and sinister schemes by other jealous officials, Daniel remained faithful to God, and God protected and exalted him to a high position in the kingdom. Daniel has set a great example for us: witnessing for Christ is possible no matter the circumstance, even in challenging settings.
