21 Days of Prayer: ReconnectingSample
One of the biggest figures in the Bible is David. He was a king, a man who knew the Torah, and is even called, “a man after God's own heart”. Here is someone everyone considered Godly, but in a moment of weakness, he gave in to the desires of his flesh and committed adultery with another man's wife. This sin and its attempted cover-up would lead to the death of a loyal soldier and an innocent baby. (2 Sam 11-12). It's easy to believe a person can’t come back from something like that. That a sin that big would forever keep someone separated from God. But this story shows us even in our darkest moments God’s gentleness is an ever-present help for all who are weary and downcast.
These past years have given us plenty of opportunities to feel like God is distant from us. Everything from fear, anger, mistrust, worry, anxiety, and loneliness. All of those things are things we have felt intensely at moments. Today we want to remind you that God is above all. Jesus says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! For I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Place your faith in Jesus, and know nothing will ever separate you from Him, for He is steady and unchanging in His love for you.
Prayer:
Father,
There have been some very intense moments in the past few years. Today we want to thank you for being present. Thank you for not abandoning us to our sin or grief or anger. Give us eyes to see every way that you are working in our life for my good. Help us to see moments we didn't realize were you working so that our faith will be strong in the knowledge that nothing can separate us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
