The Grace ~ Worship Song Devotional With KDMusicSample
Day 2: - “Just the greatest man in the world” - The Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
Ian Wright’s teacher Mr. Pigden wasn’t just the Father figure he’d never had. He was also his hero;
“You know, he was one of the youngest Spitfire pilots during the war. When the war ended, he was one of the ones chosen to fly over Buckingham Palace. I remember him saying that (crying) he was more proud of me playing for England than him Flying over Buckingham Palace… I loved that man”.
What’s your understanding of grace? The Bible uses many pictures to describe the indescribable, ‘Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,’ our ultimate hero. Ephesus was one of the money capitals of the ancient world, built around the cult of Diana or Artemis, the goddess of silver. When Paul wrote to the tiny church there, overshadowed by the immense wealth of the Roman Empire, he deliberately used the language of overflowing riches to describe what we have in Jesus.
“God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved” Ephesians 2: 6-8 (NIV)
What’s he’s trying to ram home is that being in Christ is more precious, more wonderful, more overflowing, and abundant than any wealth the world can ever give you.
These are the riches of a new life, of being ‘Made alive in Christ’. This new life of yours and mine came at a huge cost. That’s why the gospel message of salvation by grace is often referred to as “The great exchange.” Jesus died so that you could live. He gave everything for you. We are bought at a price; we are not our own. If you’re struggling to describe God’s grace to you, remember G.R.A.C.E. ~ God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense “He became poor so that you through his poverty might become rich” 2 Cor 8:9
Here’s more from Ian Wright about his spitfire pilot hero; “He changed my life. Just recognizing, standing outside that classroom, I needed more, and he gave it to me. Just the greatest man in the world.”
Jesus didn’t just believe in us like a loving teacher or hero. He did so much more ~ He died for us.The grace of the Lord Jesus just can’t be taken lightly or casually. He has changed us completely. It’s more than a fresh start, we were dead, and he has given us a new life, at the cost of his own.
Clearly, you and I can’t pay the Lord Jesus back, but we do owe Him everything, and frankly, I’m quite happy with that, aren’t you? The eternal riches we have in Christ make our shallow ambitions for worldly riches, success and popularity, look like a cheap joke. You are free, and you are alive. ~ Celebrate your newfound freedom! Freely you have received, freely give. Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Dear Lord Jesus. I owe you everything. I am a new creation because you died for me. Please help me to respond with extravagance, freedom & joy as I give to others and share your good news. I want to please you with every ounce of my might and being, To God be the Glory! Amen.
Devotional ~ The Grace verse 2
We have a Saviour whose grace, so free,
Poured out His riches for bankruptcy,
Sprung from our prisons of sin and shame,
We lift our praise to Your glorious Name.
