Discovering the Far Greater Story

DAY 3 OF 5

REDEMPTION

Continuing in what we at Lightgliders call the far greater story, we have come to its climax, known as redemption. To redeem something means to buy it back. Remember that God created everything and called it good. This is why there is beauty in the world and dignity within everyone in it. However, we have rebelled against God’s standard of goodness. This is called sin. And, because of our sin, we are separated from God. Without the next part of the story, we are left without hope.

But God, in His goodness, didn’t leave us hopeless! He sent His Son Jesus to redeem us. When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the penalty for our sin. He bought us back! When Jesus was resurrected three days later, he defeated death. He made a way for us to be restored to God and to live with Him forever! This is what it means to be redeemed. This is the heart of the far greater story and the proof that God loves us.

Here are some things to do and think about today:

  • Watch the video, “Redemption.”
  • What does it mean to be redeemed?
  • How are we redeemed by God?
  • How does understanding redemption encourage confidence?
  • Praise God that He redeems us based upon what Jesus did for us.

About this Plan

Discovering the Far Greater Story

With this 5-day plan, kids and families will discover a “Biblical Worldview” or what the Lightgliders game world calls the “Far Greater Story.” This story of God’s love is substantiated by a historic event, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and encourages life-transforming values such as purpose, humility, confidence, hope, and love. In believing this story, lives become anchored upon truth and able to grasp how they were “made to shine.”
