Miraculous Jesus: A 3-Day Christmas DevotionalSample
Witnessing a Miracle
For every person that experiences something notable or miraculous this time of year, dozens of people, if not more, are likely to hear about it. It’s human nature to share good news with those who will join in on the celebration. Think of the last time you were blessed beyond your expectations—were you able to keep it to yourself? If your answer is no, you are just like those in Scripture who were healed at the hands of Jesus.
It’s clear that Jesus’ acts of compassion and love did more than simply leave people in astonishment—it changed them. We read in the book of Matthew that crowds would gather for Jesus. When a miracle would take place, voices could be heard murmuring things such as, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” Witnessing a miracle changes people when they embrace what they saw.
“…He [Jesus] said to the paralytic—‘I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.’ And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, ‘We never saw anything like this!’”
Reflection:
As Jesus chose to keep His heart open to those who needed compassion and love, you have an opportunity this Christmas season to do the same. Think of the people God has placed in your life just to simply witness a miracle. Was your life not changed when you came face-to-face with Jesus? Let that change cause your heart to remain open to those whose eyes are still closed.
