The New Year Workout PlanSample
Day 3- Exercise Your Prayer Life
If you had to rate your prayer life on a scale of 1-10, what would you rate it? Think about your consistency, willingness, attentiveness, and dedication to prayer. Be honest with yourself; if there is room for improvement, today’s devotional is just for you!
I like to think of prayer as meeting with a personal trainer. Personal trainers at the gym are helpful with listening to your concerns and fitness goals and creating a personal workout routine that is best for addressing your goals. They are also motivational and are unwilling to allow you to fall off from reaching your potential. Accountability is what they are masters at! They hold you to your word and help you set new goals once you’ve achieved the ones you set.
Jesus, along with the help of the Holy Spirit, is our personal trainer! Through prayer, we can communicate to understand plans for our lives, discuss goals, and share our struggles. Prayer is the key that unlocks the door to our future! This is why there can be blockages or hindrances when it comes to prayer in the lives of many believers. The enemy would prefer we never speak to the Lord because it ensures we will never receive the necessary tools, strength, and power to defeat him.
Much like exercising, most people are prone to giving up in the gym and quitting their workout plans when they don’t see results. I believe this is true for believers when they pray without seeing the immediate results they expect. Discouragement begins to set in along with doubt concerning God’s ability to hear the request made through prayer.
1 John 5:14-15 NLT - And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
WOW, what a promise! When I exercise faith in my prayer life, I can expect to receive an answer from the Lord. I can look forward to hearing instructions and directions concerning my future and destiny. This promise is great hope for every believer who needs strength in this area of their spiritual walks. Knowing God hears you when you pray should keep you motivated and dedicated to pushing forward.
Check out three key strategies to exercising your prayer life:
• Set uninterrupted time aside to pray and seek the Lord and STICK TO IT!
• Ask the Lord for help and seek Him for direction concerning your next steps.
• Listen for the answer to what you have asked! So often, we are quick to give up when we don’t hear from God immediately. Keep seeking him until you get results.
