The Power of Vision

DAY 2 OF 4

Desperation for Vision

Genesis 30:1 NIV When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister. So she said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I’ll die!”

Rachel was barren and desperate to have children.  She would rather die than be childless.  The direction of her prayer was to her husband Jacob who became angry that she was putting him in the place of God.  However, Rachel was also praying to God for this need and we read later in the chapter: Genesis 30:22 NIV Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and enabled her to conceive.

In July 1980, out of desperation Pastor Joseph sought the Lord in fasting and prayer. He desperately wanted a fresh move of God. He was determined to not stop until he heard from God. Not only that, but he was joined by a band of young NLF leaders in fasting and prayer. Together, they cried out to the Lord for a breakthrough in evangelism and church growth. Then early one morning, the Lord gave Joseph a vision that would forever transform his life and the trajectory of his ministry. It was a twofold vision: 1) The significance of the accomplished work on the Cross and 2) The New Testament pattern of ministry, the ‘priesthood of all believers.’

How badly do you want vision for your life?  Are we willing to roam around in circles or forge ahead with a clear sense of God’s purpose and direction for our lives?
