The reality of our identitySample

The reality of our identity

DAY 2 OF 7

Faith in Christ

Faith is the key that gives us the privilege of being God’s children. All of us on Earth were born as children of Peter, Louis, Gustave, Mary, Guadalupe, Ernestine, or whatever our father and mother’s names are. But it is only by faith in Christ that we gain the privilege of being called children of God. This is what the Word of God says in Galatians 3. The requirement is not only to have faith, a general faith; it has to be a specific faith: faith in Jesus Christ.

Over 90% of people have faith in something or someone. Some are Mohammedans, others are Buddhists. Some are Jews, others are Muslims or animists. To be children of God is for those who believe in Jesus Christ. All the religions mentioned have their concept of God, but not all of them believe in the Son of God. To become a child of God, it is necessary to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; that is the big difference.

You cannot be a child of God if you do not believe in the Son of God. You cannot be a Buddhist if you do not believe in Buddha; you cannot be a Castroist if you do not believe in Castro's philosophy. The most well-known verse in the Bible is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This verse contains a great truth: it tells us of God's great love for the world, including every human being.

Because we are God’s children by faith, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts. When we believe in the Son, at that moment, we become children of God and He sends the Spirit of His Son into our lives.

How does a carrier transmit AIDS to another person? There must be some kind of contact of bodily fluids. It is only after that exchange that a person then acquires the disease. It obeys a physical law and we understand it because doctors can explain it to us. Likewise, there are spiritual laws, and one of them says that when a person believes in Christ, the Son of God, that person becomes a child of God.
