[From Heaven to the Hay in the Heart] Part 2

DAY 2 OF 3

Heaven Opened Up to The Lonely And The Lowly

The group of shepherds represent lonely people. They generally tend their flock by themselves. The blind, the lame, and the lepers were also very lonely people in Bible times, but those were the persons that Jesus came to look for and heal. He came for the brokenhearted, for the hopeless, and for the sick. Should you find yourself in one of those groups, Jesus came exactly, and purposefully, for you!

We see God favoring the humble Mary, the mother of Jesus. We see Him honoring Rahab, the prostitute. The Lord does not disregard the lowly or the sinful. These women had very different levels of purity, and yet God decided to use them both. He found them valuable to accomplish His divine purposes. God used an honorable girl as much as He chose a despised woman.

Jesus came for the common and the upscale, for the learned and the ignorant, for the wise and the foolish, for the unprivileged and for those born into privilege. He came for everyone. However, He did say that in order to enter heaven, one must take the narrow path and narrow gate. The gate to heaven is small on purpose. Both the common and the upscale must humble themselves and bow down to be able to enter. Bowing down means abandoning all talents, riches, and self-righteousness—abandoning all obstacles that prevent us from entering heaven. Heaven places a demand on us, but not to make it hard for us. We are asked to deny ourselves, to even lose our life in order to find it. What we find, once we have put our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus, is a heavenly experience: one that fills us with peace that surpasses all understanding in times of trouble. We inexplicably find joy in the most challenging moments. Heaven opens so that we can begin to understand the mysteries of the Kingdom of God and find life eternal.

About this Plan

[From Heaven to the Hay in the Heart] Part 2

The Gospel of Luke tells us that some shepherds were guarding their flocks at night when an angel of the Lord appeared unto them, and the Lord’s glory shone upon them. After the angel spoke to them, a great assembly of heavenly hosts praised God along with him. What a vision, what a tremendous glimpse of heavenly apparitions and glory!
