Day #3 - Silence the accuser
Do you ever have past sins coming back to you?
When God forgets the count of your sins, Satan, whose name means accuser, will remind you of them. Even though God Himself declared us righteous, Satan will not hesitate to accuse us anyway because he is a liar and an impostor. He is even ready to invent faults you didn't commit for the sole purpose of locking you up in introspection and pushing you to despair.
Do you feel accused with no apparent reason? This guilt can produce despondency in your soul and you may be tempted to continually introspect. For example, the enemy tries to persuade Christians that they committed blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. But when you are afraid you committed this, it shows you did not! This sin concerns hardened people who claim that the work of the Holy Spirit is the work of demons. By rejecting the Holy Spirit, they deprive themselves of the possibility of being convicted of sin and therefore of being forgiven.
Even Judas could have repented after betraying Jesus, but guilt drove him to hang himself. Peter, on the other hand, was filled with remorse and was repenting after denying Jesus three times.
How can we tell the difference between the Holy Spirit and the accuser? The Holy Spirit draws you to God. The accuser wants to draw you away from God.
Remember that Satan does not have the power to separate you from God. He is trying to make you believe his lies so you become consumed by guilt and will distance yourself from God.
Instead of introspection, resist the accuser by leaning on Jesus.
Christ died, I am forgiven.
Christ is risen, I am declared righteous.
Christ is at the right hand of God, He has all authority and he delegates it to me to resist the devil.
Christ prays for me that my faith may be strengthened, I am not alone.
I invite you to pray :
Father, thank You for forgiving me and justifying me. You have laid my sins at the bottom of the sea and Your blood covers me. Jesus, You pray for me and in Your name I refuse the accusations of the enemy and drive him away from me. Thank You for Your salvation! Amen.
I invite you to discover the audio guide 21 Days of Listening to God's voice. It is a prayer journey to learn to recognize God's voice. You can experience the first 5 days here.
