Casting Vision Like Nehemiah

DAY 2 OF 4

Casting Vision like Nehemiah - Part II

Nehemiah successfully motivated the Jews to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem partly because of his effectiveness in casting vision. Nehemiah’s vision casting is only two verses long, but it identifies four elements helpful to us in our own vision-casting opportunities.

The first element is to clearly state the problem. The second element is to propose the solution

People don’t want to work on a futile project. Your solution doesn’t have to be too detailed or itemized, but it must be clear, viable, and inspire confidence in your plan.

Nehemiah reminded the Jews that the city was desolate and in ruins. During that day and context, rebuilding the wall was the best solution.

In Nehemiah 2:17 Nehemiah said, "Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem."

If you are casting a vision to your team, make sure your solution is clear and viable.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Why do you think some business leaders are great at pointing out the problem but have trouble proposing a solution?
  • True or false. You need to consider every team member’s input to propose a solution.
  • Nehemiah’s solution was short and simple. Why do you think that may have impacted his success at vision casting?

About this Plan

Casting Vision Like Nehemiah

There are 66 verses about casting vision in the Bible. Arguably one of the most effective vision casters in the Bible was Nehemiah, a Jewish leader who convinced the Jews to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem in the 5th Century B.C. Although Nehemiah’s vision casting is only two verses long, it has four elements that are crucial to today’s business leader. This Bible reading plan looks at those four elements.
