Chosen to Be a Miracle! Advent Plan Based on “The Chosen"

DAY 11 OF 26

Day 10: Arise and walk!

I don't know about you, but in all my years, I've never seen a miracle as impressive as that of the leper. I could see his wounds being healed before my very eyes!

At that moment, the first thing that came to my mind was that if Jesus could heal a leper, surely He could make a paralytic walk! I couldn't contain my excitement. I had to go to a good friend of mine who had been paralyzed since childhood and tell him what my eyes had just seen.

At first, my friend was a bit skeptical, but after convincing him to go see Jesus, we started our journey downtown with four other friends who helped us transport him on a stretcher.

It wasn't very hard to find Jesus. A crowd had gathered in front of a house where He was teaching. The people were all crowded together, and we didn't know how we could get near Jesus with the stretcher. But then it occurred to us to climb up on the roof of the house. A very kind girl, a follower of Jesus, showed us the best way and helped us.

Once we were on the roof, I interceded for my friend and asked Jesus to work a miracle in his life. We had to break the roof of the house a little bit so that we could let my friend down with some ropes.

Jesus' words to him were "'Son, take heart. Your sins are forgiven.'" (adapted from Mark 2:5, NKJV) My friend later confessed to me that his heart was pounding when he heard Jesus say that. My friend felt the burden of the sins that had been oppressing him just disappear. It was so liberating!

But that was not all. Jesus continued, "'so that you may know that the Son of Man has the authority on Earth to forgive sins: I say to you, my son, rise, pick up your bed and go home.'" (adapted from Mark 2:10-11, NKJV)

My friend's legs began to move. Slowly but steadily, he awkwardly rose to his feet and began to take steps amidst the clamor and stupefaction of the crowd. I could not believe my eyes, and yet it was real. My friend was walking for the first time in many years. A miracle had happened!

Our lives have been transformed forever.

My name is Tamar, and my friend and I have been chosen by Jesus.

P.S. Dear friend, it is so precious to have friends who intercede for us! Today, I would like to be that friend who intercedes for you. Let me pray for you: "Lord, I pray for my dear friend, that You would work amazing miracles in his/her life and that You would help in all the complicated situations my friend finds himself/herself in. If there are sins hindering him/her, may my friend feel complete freedom so that he/she can serve You with fervor. May Your Name be lifted up in his/her life! In Jesus' name, amen!" Could you also be an intercessor for other people this Christmas season?
