7 Day Married Couple’s Connection ChallengeSample
Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians to encourage one another and build each other up. When was the last time you affirmed your spouse and intentionally built them up? When was the last time you showed gratitude toward your spouse for who they are?
Affirmation and appreciation draw us close. In fact, many marriage counselors claim they can tell if a couple is happy or not just by observing whether or not they show gratitude to each other.
With all of our daily responsibilities it’s easy to get into a habit of only thanking our spouse for what they do and not who they are. Don’t get me wrong - it’s great to say “thank you” to your spouse for washing the dishes, or running an errand, or grabbing your favorite snack while they are up in the kitchen but it’s also important to cherish our spouse for who they are and not just how they serve us.
Today let’s connect with our spouse by affirming who they are and the ways we are grateful for how God knit them together.
Here’s your challenge: Write an affirmation letter to your spouse and leave it for them. In the letter express different specific ways you are grateful for them and specific ways you can affirm them, who they are, and their giftings. Don’t just express gratitude for what they do for you but also take time to say how you appreciate them for who they are.
