Fully Devoted

DAY 2 OF 4

Intimacy

When we choose a life devoted to God, we can easily shift from wanting to have others know God to wanting to look good before them. When we walk away, are people just thinking we are awesome, or are they in awe of what God is doing in our lives? As believers, we should engage with people in such a way that they want to know more about the God we serve. A life fully devoted to God reflects Christ so much that people look past who we are and get a taste of who God is.

Knowledge of theology is great, but God also asks for intimacy with Him. Just because you know the Word of God and memorize Scripture does not mean you have intimacy with God. Being entirely devoted to Him requires intimacy. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God.” The word knowledge in this passage is not referring to understanding, biblical, or head knowledge. The translation does not convey that what the word actually meant was for a man to know a woman; in essence, what the passage refers to is a lack of intimacy. What God was saying was that because the priests rejected intimacy, He would reject them as well. God is calling us to be fully devoted believers in Jesus Christ who are intimate with Him.

We must deny ourselves and take up the cross to follow Jesus. Jesus said that “whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Author David Platt says, “The road that leads to heaven is risky, lonely, and costly in this world. Few are willing to pay the price. Following Jesus involves losing your life—and finding a new life in Him.”

We live in a world that has so much gray. There is no black or white anymore. However, the Lord is clear with us. He is for you and loves you. The question is: Is He enough for you? He wants you not partially, but fully committed. Christ is not an add-on to your life. Proclaim your devotion not only in public, to appear good, but in private, give Him your heart and mind.

About this Plan

Fully Devoted

God has plans to prosper you. He has so much in store for you. But is Jesus enough for you? The only way we can see the fullness of what God has for us is if we are sons and daughters who are not partially but fully devoted to Him. Read along to understand more on becoming a fully devoted believer.
