Harvest 365

DAY 67 OF 365

David wrote and sang his Psalms to the Lord when he was a kid. Today, we can find God through David’s worship songs.

In Psalm 27v1, King David is confident about one thing; he is confident about ‘God’. David was very familiar with things not going well. He had challenges from his own sons that could easily have de-railed him were it not for one thing, he was confident about…God.

He wrote in 27v1, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?” We can be confident about God. We can turn to Him and find Him standing right beside us, for He has been there all along!

We live in a push and shove culture these days but David seemed to cut through the push with the word ‘wait.’ He states in 27v14, ‘Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait I say on the Lord!’ Like music to our soul, the idea of slowing down and, in fact, waiting upon the Lord will bring peace and rest to our inner world, even when our outer world around is spinning!

In Psalm 28 v1, David writes, ‘To you I will cry’ and in verse 2, ‘When I cry to You.’ It would appear King David found himself in tears at times and his only source of comfort was to let the tears flow to God. Our greatest comfort comes when we kneel before the Lord and direct our hearts to cry to Him. He responds with peace and overwhelming love.

Even God takes a seat! He sits down. In Psalm 29v10 David writes, ‘The Lord sat enthroned at the Flood and the Lord sits as King forever.’ Even when the flood was in full swing with Noah and his family and the animals on board the ark, God was relaxed and seated on the throne of heaven, relaxed and at peace because everything was under His control. What an amazing God we lean into. He has got all of our concerns under His control! At this very moment, ‘God has got this.’
