Do you desire greater grace?
Do you need more favor in your life? Do you need more forgiveness? Do you struggle with guilt and shame? Would you like a promotion; a raise; or to start a new, successful company? The Bible says we can access more favor than ever before: “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: ‘God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.’” (James 4:6, NIV)
I assume you’ve answered yes to almost every question, so let’s look at five ways to increase favor in your life:
- Grace comes in the form of forgiveness and cleansing of sins and mistakes.
- Grace positions you as a friend of God. God is not angry or neutral towards you. He loves you as a son or daughter.
- Grace will unleash more and more favor upon you and through you.
- Grace is like a seed: the more you give, the more you will get.
- Grace is increased towards you and through you by humility.
It’s quite a simple principle: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” (James 4:10, NIV) Have you ever met arrogant or braggadocious people? I have, and I’m afraid for them because I know they are headed for a fall. In my understanding, the best way to go higher in life is to go lower. Jesus said it so well: “‘The greatest among you will be your servant’” (Matthew 23:11, NIV).
I know that humility is no longer popular in this self-centered and narcissistic society. Social media has placed the focus on likes, followers, looks, and fame. Many people have become known as “influencers” on social media, creating wealth by posting about themselves. Character has taken a back seat to popularity and self-promotion.
Will you join the army of humble, kind, generous Christians who are changing the world through servant attitudes? Please don’t strive or waste your time trying to bolster your self-importance. Humbly lay your life down for Christ and watch what He will do for you. He will lift you up and cause you to become a miracle.
