How do we Hope in Christ?

How do we hope in Christ? How do we build, grow, and strengthen our hopes in Christ?

These are important questions because without understanding these things, hope can fade and be lost.

The first thing we need to do to ensure hope is not lost is by meeting together with other Christians. Our hopes are strengthened when we share them with those who are of the same mind and belief. By meeting together and speaking of our hope in Jesus Christ we hold fast to our hopes, becoming steadfast and stable in our hope of salvation.

We should also immerse ourselves in the word of God. Study the Bible as it tells you what your hopes are based upon and how to gird up your hopes in Jesus Christ. Our hope is in the grace of God and it is through the scripture that we learn and understand the extent of His grace towards us and the hope that He has given those who seek Him in Jesus Christ.

Do not place your hopes on the things of this world: money, status, riches, power, position, and so on. Those things are temporary and fading. The hope you have in Jesus Christ is for something permanent. The hope we have is eternity with God and Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This world will be rolled up like an old garment and replaced by a world that will never wear out.

To grow strong in your hope remember that faith and love work together with hope. As you grow in those things, so too will you grow stronger in hope.

Faith is especially important in building your hope. You have hope because you believe, and conversely, you believe because you have hope. It is faith that assures us that the things we hope for will be received in due time. It is faith that allows us to look forward to a hopeful future where the promises of the Lord are fulfilled.

Over and over again we are shown that it is the power of faith upon which all of the promises of God are built. And it is because of hope we continue to believe. Just as the great men and women of faith in times long past hoped and believed in God for a better future, so too we can learn from their experiences and faith. They hoped for many things, and in their faith and hopes those things were received and achieved.

We are the children of faith of those people. We hold the same faith in Jesus Christ, and so are heirs to the hopes that they held in God too.

It is by learning about those things in the Bible and by increasing our knowledge of the gospel through prayer and study that we grow in faith. And as we grow in faith we grow in hope. This is how to build, grow, and strengthen hope in Jesus Christ.
