Advent: Prepare for the King of KingsSample
You can believe God’s plan!
Advent is all about the supernatural in our daily lives. In the case of Joseph and Mary, it was the fulfillment of a promise that was thousands of years old. “‘In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.’” (Genesis 22:18, NKJV)
Isn’t it fascinating that God rarely does it our way? We pray like crazy, then He answers our crying with “selah” or some other unexpected result. The Jews wanted a savior and ruler to free them from the Romans, and God sent His Son to free them from their sin and blindness.
I guess that’s because He’s God, and we're not. He’s all-wise, and we are impatient. He’s supernatural, and we are natural.
Does God ever do the unexpected in your life? Does He ever allow setbacks and frustrating circumstances? Of course He does. He’s God, and we're not.
I’m blessed to have twelve grandchildren who love to sleep over. I love these kids, and I usually give them what they want. They do treasure hunts in my cabinets, eat too much chocolate, and they can make a mess of all my memorabilia. But I’m strict about swimming, television content, and riding their bikes on the street. I set a few limits for their safety, but at times they don’t like my wisdom.
We are the same way with God. Have you ever been frustrated or angry with God? Have His answers ever confused you?
I’m sure Joseph was devastated by his fiancée’s pregnancy, but he had a dream, an angel told him what to do, and he obeyed every word without hesitation. “When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.” (Matthew 1:24, NIV) It wasn’t his plan, but it was God’s plan.
The Bible says, “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.” (Isaiah 55:8, NIV)
So, during this Advent season, would you seek His ways and submit to Him with a peaceful heart?
Because that’s how you become a miracle.
