[Keep Walking: The Power of Perseverance] Persevere in the Pain

DAY 1 OF 4

WHY SUFFER?

Did you know that persevering is a sign that you remain in the doctrine of Christ and, according to the Apostle John, it is also a sign that you have the Father and the Son? This apostle teaches us that we learn to remain in Christ when we suffer and bear pain. You may never have thought that pain teaches you to remain in the faith. It is, at the same time, the proof that you have the Father and the Son.

Bookstores are full of books on self-help and how to be successful in life; however, no books teach you how to fail. Of course, I don't mean how to ensure failure, but how to rise from falls and losses and make the best of them. No failure is final. Our worst mistakes can become our best teachers and guides. After analyzing what led us to make a wrong decision, the most important thing is to take a positive attitude; that is what can guarantee that we will rise from the trial. If we decide to move on and endure pain, which is sure to diminish, we will be able to overcome the various tests we face.

We must remember that the testing of our faith produces perseverance. It is the actual test that teaches us to endure and withstand pain or suffering. Academic tests are not designed to teach us anything, other than that we probably do not know much about the subject matter. The testing of our faith, however, presents us with a learning opportunity. We are given the opportunity, if we are willing, to learn to tolerate what is painful. Certainly, this is not an easy task, but remember the Holy Ghost is always there to intercede for us. This testing of our faith is not a one-time trial, but a process through many challenges. We know this. We are constantly put to the test, but it is only to enhance in us the power and strength to endure.

Remember: endurance is the proof that you remain in Christ. It is not a proof of how strong you are, but of how able you are to dwell in Christ through His strength. You can trust God. Set your hopes on Him; He will not disappoint you.

Day 2

About this Plan

[Keep Walking: The Power of Perseverance] Persevere in the Pain

Failure is more common in life than success. Success is often the result of many failures. God uses trials and pain to purify us, and also to restore us and take us to a higher place. Success makes us proud of ourselves, but failure makes us humble and ready to trust the Lord. Failure is what God uses to lift us up to a place of complete trust in Him.
