A Reminder That God Will Provide

DAY 6 OF 12

Live Like a Child of God

By Rev. Roger Woller, Chaplain

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, inasmuch as God is making an appeal through us. We urge you, on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:20)

What does “reconciled with God” mean? Why is it so important to be reconciled with God?  Remember when you were mean to a sibling, either physically or verbally, and your mom or dad said, “Say you are sorry”?  And do you remember reluctantly saying “I’m sorry” so that you wouldn’t get into more trouble than you already were?

Your parents wanted you to reconcile with your brother or sister. They wanted you not to be so mean or hurtful toward each other but rather to be nice and loving. Your parents wanted you to be family members who got along.

It is so very sad when family members do not get along with each other—when they are separated due to jealousy, hatred, or anger.

How would you feel if God treated you in the same way that you treated your brother or sister when you hit or said something mean to him or her? You would not like it.

God wants you to be reconciled. When our first parents, Adam and Eve, sinned, they ran away from God. They were no longer reconciled with God. The three of them were no longer the family they once were.

God did not want that separation to continue. He made a promise to send a Redeemer—a Savior to make them one with Him again. That Redeemer, that Savior, is Jesus. He is the Reconciler whom they needed and whom we need.

God forgives us for Jesus’s sake. Not because we can make ourselves right with God but because Jesus has made us right with God. Jesus has reconciled us with God.  Are you reconciled with God?  Yes, you are! Now, live like a child of God, a member of his family.

Prayer:  Dear Father in heaven, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to reconcile me with you. Help me to tell others about what Jesus has done for them so that they, too, may by faith be reconciled with you. Amen
